🐂 Animal Welfare & Nutrition

Our yearling Angus steers graze year-round on diverse, nutrient-rich pastures, including:

  • Sown Millet, Sorghum, and Winter Oats

  • Improved pastures of Ryegrass, Cocksfoot, and Clover

We never use grain, hormones, chemical treatments, or mRNA vaccines. The result: healthier animals and cleaner, better-tasting beef.


🔪 Processing & Packing

At Farmstead Meats, we take a hands-on, respectful approach:

  1. Wednesdays – Livestock transported just 30 minutes to our trusted abattoir

  2. Thursday mornings – Priority processing begins

  3. Beef is chilled 12–16 hours, then delivered to our butcher

  4. Carcasses are hung for 7–10 days to naturally tenderise

  5. Orders are butchered, packed, and delivered fresh – all on the same day

🕒 Please allow up to 21 days from order to delivery due to dry-aging and custom butchering.

We account for a small amount of natural loss during processing—typically 5%—due to shrinkage, trim, and moisture reduction. Of the remaining weight, around 75% will be usable meat cuts, and 25% will consist of bone and trim. Please keep in mind that weights are approximate and may vary slightly depending on the animal and how it’s processed. This guide is here to help you better understand what to expect when purchasing whole or half packs by carcass weight.
